Balance is the key to staying independent as we age. These 5 simple balance exercises are perfect for older adults and require little to no equipment. They help improve coordination, stability, and confidence.
1. Heel-to-Toe Walk – Walk in a straight line, placing one foot directly in front of the other. Great for posture and focus.
2. Single-Leg Stand – Stand behind a chair, lift one leg, and hold for 10–30 seconds. Switch sides.
3. Side Leg Raises – Strengthen your hips and legs while standing behind a chair.
4. Marching in Place – Gently lift your knees while standing, raising your heart rate and working your core.
5. Clock Reach – Imagine a clock on the floor and reach out with one foot to “tap” different times.
